Title: Tale of Origin
Genre: fantasy
Rating: G
Warnings: none

Long time ago a group of children saw what humans were, what they would be and how their own nature would twist the world. They saw death, pain, sorrow... They saw and what they saw was not good. They met in the heart of night. They joined their hands and together they prayed the Mother Earth and Father Sky. They prayed something would come and show humans what fear was. Someone who would hunt humans and show them there were things to be scared of.

Mother Earth and Father Sky heard their whispers, pleas, and they answered. In a cave far away from the children, a corpse, no older than three days, woke up. The corpse felt hunger like it had never experienced. A hunger that was not for food or water. In the heart of night the corpse wanted something. A figure came in sight and Mother Earth explained the new fledgling what it was and what it would do to survive. 'My children will name you and that name will be feared as well as awed', Mother Earth said.

In a place where no human ever entered a group of wishes, dreams and hopes gathered and they saw what humans had made. Together they agreed while their power would grow, so would the new one's and they would not be able to harm it. Together they knew the new one would not be able to feed upon them and together they saw what the new one would do to humans. Slave them, feed upon them and kill them. So together they prayed for Father Sky and Mother Earth to create something that would defend the world from the new one.

Father Sky and Mother Earth heard their whispers, pleas, and they answered. In a plain a group of wolves attacked a human tribe. The animals did not kill them but they bit them all, following the orders of their lords. Elsewhere cave lions attacked a humans - every where in the world animals would bit humans so they would get powers to defend the world from bloodbath. Father Sky appeared to them and explained why they were here and what they would do. 'My children will name you and that name will be feared as well as awed', Father Sky said.

In the cave the children saw what turn the world would take and they were satisfied. Already tales were spreading. A dead man came back to life and killed everyone from his tribe. The fledgling came to the children and the children kept it at bay.
“You will not pray upon us”, they told it and the thing laughed and it's laugh was full of darkness and something that raised fear inside of them.
“Maybe not you but your children will not be safe from me. While you have powers, you are very human and you wanted me to hunt upon them.” It laughed again and disappeared.

In the place where no human ever entered group of wishes, dreams and hopes stared their new bodies. Admiring them they laughed but their laugh was full of light and merry. Soon there would be others. Others who would all be something different. Some would live in the darkness, some would live in the day and yet one day they all would be named as same.

At first the tale of origin was often told. The tale was remembered. Both by the children and by the fey and yet, as the time went by, it was forgotten. Piece of history was lost and when people asked how vampires, shapeshifters and the fey had been born, they answered: “They have always been there.”
